Rather than try to present some pseudointellectual image of France, I show some random pictures.

Feu Vert is an automotive parts and supplies store that also changes tires, brakes, fixes things. In the remote chance that you ever wondered where to buy the "Export" CB Radios, this store sells them.
MVC_458F.jpg
The reason I went to the store is that I thought the cat with the megaphone was cool and I wanted a picture.
MVC_462F.jpg
Just a logo on a glass. Martini is a brand of alcohol. (ACLOOL in French)

A street in Lyon. Lyon is the second largest city in France and a good place to see if you want the big-city feel of Paris but do not want the crowds. The following images are from downtown Lyon, and the drive back to Grenoble.
MVC_465F.jpg
Many streets are one-way and narrow. These are pay-parking places. The word PAYANT denotes this.
MVC_466F.jpg
Church in Lyon. Pardon the construction.
MVC_467F.jpg
The church is across the street from this government building.
MVC_468F.jpg
From the same place, you can catch a TAXI. In the background, the "American Bar" I hade the filet of sole. The waiter brought the cooked fish to the table and filetted it right there. I reccommend this restaurant. Pernod was also on the menu.

A short video of the drugstore sign. These drugstores are everywhere and seem to carry alot of homeopathic medicines as well as the usual items. The signs flash hypnotically.
MVC_470F.jpg
Rent a very small car if you want some convenience. It is hard or impossible to park anything of the usual USA size here. The ideal size is like a GEO Metro of Ford Fiesta. A Ford Taurus is too big in France.
MVC_471F.jpg
Some streets in downtown Lyon are closed at times (for shopping?) Note the red light and barrier.
MVC_472F.jpg
The 10" diameter barrier pops up from the center of the street.
