Sunday afternoon and evening, I drove from Centerton, AR, south on I-540 to I-40, then all the way to Forrest City AR and got a room. 540 has many difficult hills, steep and a challenge for the M35. It was about midnight by the time I got to the hotel, and I got a 0500 wakeup call.
Drove to Memphis TN. and got to Memphis Equipment at about 0830. It was pretty rough driving the truck with the blown gasket, I had to take measures to keep the truck exhaust out of the cab. The only way to do this is to open the front windshields and close the side and rear windows so that the cab is pressurized with fresh air from the road. Still got gassed a little.. heh.
Here are pictures I took while waiting for them to fix my truck. Memphis is expert in military truck repairs, especially 2.5 and 5 ton trucks. They sell parts and trucks. Trucks can be bought 'checked' or 'full process' which is a complete rebuild to spec. The pictures are random, some are obviously parts and parts vehicles, others are vehicles waiting to be rebuilt. I didn't take alot of pics inside the work areas, but there are several large stations in the service shop where things like alternators and engines are completely stripped and rebuilt. The place seemed to run very eficiently and all the people I spoke with knew alot more then I did about the particular item in question. Their rates were reasonable and people were friendly.
