Potter & Brumfield Inc. (P&B) is the leading manufacturer of electronic relays--devices that control the flow of electric current--in the United States, and a wholly owned subsidiary of Siemens AG.[#]
Consider it a 'fan' page as well as a hobbyist resource. We have enjoyed Potter & Brumfield products for decades, continue to enjoy them, and wish to not only honor the classic products but also aid experimenters, by means of this information, in properly using the Vintage relays they may come to possess. We hope this will clear up questions like coil voltage and current, contact ratings, and timing.
By the way, don't be afraid to use the Mercury Wetted Contact relays. No P&B or (other reputably manufactured) Mercury Wetted Contact relay is known to have ever leaked by itself and they have many desirable characteristics. NOS (new old stock) is better choice if one is overly concerned. Avoid crushed casings - goes without saying. See the JM series information and learn about how they are made.
