I almost bought this!

This military RT-68 FM set with a 1175A/SR 115VAC operated power supply covers the 6M band plus, and makes 2W (lo) or 16W (hi). Note the FM deviation is rather wide on this beast, but that could be adjusted. A bit of tweeking to the unit could also narrow up the RX (channel) bandwidth as well. The price is quite fair. There are three sets that look like this one:
RT-66 Transceiver, 20-28mHz, cont tuning or presets, FM, 27 tubes, 12 or 24VDC from PP-109, PP-112, or PP-282 power supplies, 42 lbs
RT-67 Transceiver, similar to RT-66, 27-39mHz
RT-68 Transceiver, similar to RT-66, 38-55mHz

More info on this set.
