 Bringing it up a bit more and traverse to the left. The man right in the middle of the shaft is the crane operator. Note the box there on the ledge, it's a remote.

 Finally, up, horizontal, and away down the deck to be lowered onto a fixture. The shaft is scrap and a new one is being made.. 60,000 LBs of high carbon steel scrap. Not only that, but 1930's steel to boot, not the tin that Chinese toasters are made from! Note also when the crane heads down the deck, that those three top rails in the upper left corner are the 3-phase power for the crane. Note the skill of the operator, that both hoists raise and traverse and change speed all at the same time and very smoothly.
