This is the schedule page for the 1959 SWIRECO (Southwest Institute of Radio Engineers Conference) amateur radio day. SWIRECO was an annual symposium for members of the IRE, most of whom were professional engineers working in the radio industry. Hot topics in 1959 were varicaps (varactor diodes) and transistors.
Little information except for remaining paper documentation is available on SWIRECO, although the IRE still exists as an ancestor of the IEEE. In 1963 the IRE and AIEE (American Institute of Electrical Engineers) merged to form the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers).
